So Saturday morning, Bill and I trotted across the street to workout. Such a sweet morning out there. I ran down to the jetty. Of course we did our sit-up's, and pushups, and all that Gold's Gym guru stuff is about. We did it. Ok...so then we are headed back, and while walking past massive amounts of kelp in this one area, I see all of this stuff washed up in it. Lots and lots of sunglasses, diving masks, and toys. And because we are hoarders collectors interested in this stuff, we proceed to build the biggest pile. I am talking about 20 pairs of glasses, 5 pairs of masks, and all kinds of cute little toys to share with my little cousins when they make it to the beach. Oh. and that ocean plant up above. So pretty. And stinky. But I love it. I am keeping it for now. Don't know why, well, kind of. I am keeping it. My little decorator eye. On our way home we noticed a very large bird. Sitting on the beach. An Egret. They are super big. Not moving. As I approached, he stared at me. Long and hard. Until he tried to move. I didn't know what was going on with him. But soon found he was completely tangled in fishing line. I called animal control. They soon sent 2 outofshape lazy workers to the rescue. That made it clear to me that they would not chase it, or try for too long. So this nice surfer guy that had already tried to capture it with his rash guard would standby to help. Stuff like this breaks my heart. For the bird. Surfers guy was super cool. Mother Nature loves you. So do I. Animal control officers become callused to this type of thing. I get it. But I want everything saved. Or at least some effort. Instead they made excuses. Karma. Maybe for me too, because I couldn't or wouldn't stand around long enough for him to sway back out of the surf. 2 lifeguard shacks down. It was just one of those moments. So we spent the rest of the day, cleaning all of our new toys. kidding. Actually, just doing not much of anything, but lay in the sun. And hang out. And drive Kali to Mac's. And back to the dock. To do nothing. Well, Bill always finds something to work on. He just does.
