Time for winter....

Although us Southern Cali people enjoy sunshine all year long, there's a bracket of people that love rain.
I specifically love the rain on certain days...especially if plans are not being rained on. ha.
At this point, rain is becoming the topic of seriousness right now.
We need rain more than anything.  We just do.
Our lakes are dropping, and rivers are drying up.
I can go on and on, but we all know that this Earth survives on natural processes.
The word Drought alone, just speaks trouble for just about everyone.
Especially our beautiful country.   I won't go into how cities will try to squeeze from your very beautiful wallet.  Or the sweet cattle up in our Central Coast that is bearing down on the financial strain for farmers.
Agriculture suffering....on and on.

So, as funny as it may sound, it's time for a rain dance.  Who's bringing the Fireball?

Or better yet...pray for rain sugar plums.  Pray for rain.

Pictures like this make me sit back, and rest my eyes-  Can you imagine the sounds here?
You know I read poems, and little scriptures often.  Few catch me.  The funny ones always catch me.
But when I read things about slowing down to notice the little things, tis is true.  We are in the rat race right now.
Building our lives, building our forts.  Trying to survive while we take care, and guide others.

What I like to find, are happy things, and happy people.

I think rain will bring the best out of us California people this weekend.  Bring it Mother Earth. Bring it.

Today I will visit the dentist for a long dreaded appointment.  Because I am super scared of the dentist, when I go, all shit hits the fan.

Pray for rain.  Pray for me.

Peace and big sprinkles to you all. And your cars.  And your frizzy hair.

ps.  I seriously can't wait to hear rain on my house top, while I sip coffee, and wiggle my toes.

Come through weather man and chick.  Come on.

boom.

North Side, South Side, Our Side....

Friday night Bill and I decided a good night in, with a homemade Lavash Pizza was in tall order.
It's been interesting in our business lives, as we keep things going. It's our slower months...So sometimes, it's best to stay in, cook dinner, enjoy some wine....and catch the replays of Mavericks from earlier in the day. (Highlight of my week)
Peaceful night in order.  Just what we needed.
Our morning plan was to head over to Donuts for Derelicts-  Although this calls for an early morning, there is something to be said about watching the sun rise. The still of the morning also speaks for itself.  I really love it.
In this case, on a gloomy morning, we could only feel it.
 Headed up Pacific Coast Highway.....
The most handsome personal driver, ever.
And there she sits.  Tucked in the corner.
Not far down, we find this little cutie.
And this....
And this pretty colored feller.
This simple rusty looking beast.
But boy you shoulda heard her fire up! That hay was a serious cover up.
As we strolled back to the truck, my lover said "Wanna head up the coast to that little breakfast spot"?
Well, of course, I say.  We pulled into the parking lot where this cute little shack sits.
As Bill orders a yummy breakfast...(it's a stopping point, kids..try it) Newport Coast, at Crystal Cove-
A fulfilling, pretty big breakfast.
And I find this little cutie.
I also spot these cottages below.  Talk about cute.
I envisioned sitting on the deck, with a little fire lit, and a glass of vino in hand....
After breakfast we decided to walk down below and check it out...
So after spotting this feller cruising by in the agua....
And these beauties sharing their grace..

We decide to venture on....
To another cute little spot...
So down the stairs we went...
Right past the little cute store...
And down to the sand.  The talk of the weekend here in Southern Cali, was the waves.  And waves they were.  Just not so big in this town.

And so we checked things out.  Talked about these cute little love shacks that you can rent right on the beach.
We watched families take walks, and watched birds stare off into the distance...

We will be back, that's for sure.
Upon arrival back home we decided to check out our local waves.  And although in these pictures they don't look big....

They really were..

It was nice to watch the locals catch good waves.
Enjoying a beautiful Saturday doing what they love, in a place so close.
I love you Bill.

A better picture to see the wave size...
Of course these fellers kept a good eye on everyone....

Not long after we walked home from here, we get a text from Kali.
Mom, come check out Seal. There's a surf comp and a beach full of happy peeps.
"We're on our way"
 Surf Comp there was.
Oldies but goodies in full bloom.
North side of Seal Beach Pier.

Soon we'd step over to the South Side.  Where the waves were crackin' and the sand was gettin pounded!

Never did I realize just how dirty our local water is.  I mean I can smell it on North side, where the sewer river jetty water comes a' rollin in....but ew.
 South Side Jetty Break.
On the news all week long there were warnings.  Warning of big swell, warnings of big waves, and warnings of rip tides.  The one big thing they ALWAYS mention, is experience.  And if you are NOT experienced or in shape enough to take on these brutal not so common fellers....welllllll then......

But you know this world needs entertainment.  This world needs work.
Work, as in explaining to those that "weren't informed" to stay out.
Because you didn't listen to the warnings....
And your parents love you, even though they didn't explain the warning, that you shouldn't be in there kid.  Because we all just watched you and that other fine feller get washed out....and back half way on shore.
That flippers don't always bail you out.
Boogie boards took the lead this day.
Experienced boogie boarders were in heaven. Shreddin it dude.
It was a beautiful day.

Spent together by the water side.
Our next adventure was Yard House with K & G.   Sitting in the back seat as our youngin' drove us to dinner....
The night was filled with laughter.  Sharing stories between us, listening, yet talking with them.  Kali and Gio are special little gems to us.   Sunday was filled with all things "home" for me.  It was time to pull out the holiday plants, replant the spring stuff.  I cleaned out closets, and donated old clothes, bags and shoes.  I trimmed the shrubs outside, and rinsed every thing down.  There is nothing more peaceful to me than getting my chores done and prepared for the week. It's a blissful moment to me as I wake early on Monday with my meals planned, my house clean, and my cupboards and closets organized.  It does something for this chicks soul.   I wish you all a very super week.  I hope this Tuesday afternoon finds you all ready to cross the finish line sooner than later.  Smile on the outside kids.  Even if you are dying on the inside.  Just try.     BIG LOVE TO YOU ALL.    Boom.
